RIGID GAS PERMEABLE LENSES
Rigid gas permeable lenses and scleral lenses are often prescribed when soft contact lenses may not be appropriate. It may be the case that the cornea is distorted or thin as in the case in keratoconus, or in cases of very dry eye, irregular astigmatism and in some post surgical cases. We often use corneal topography (corneal mapping) to best determine the appropriate rigid gas permeable or scleral lenses to improve the fit, comfort and vision.
