CATARACTS
Cataracts are clouding of the lens of the eye, resulting in blurred or double vision. At Tracton Optometrists we undertake a general assessment of cataract progression annually and are able to advise if and when you might need cataract removal. We have a number of specialised ophthalmologists in Bondi Junction and surrounding areas whom we can refer you to for your surgery. They use the latest technology and have the ability to design the desired endpoint of prescription after you have your surgery. This is important because this will determine how you function visually for the coming years. Your ophthalmologist may suggest a variety of implant options, such as:
- monovision implants, one eye to see well in the distance and one eye to see well for reading
- a multifocal implant, each eye being able to see both distance and near
- implants with a close to zero prescription for distance, with this option you will need reading/computer glasses.
As we see the results of cataract surgery in our practice every day we can take the time to discuss these various options. If your ophthalmologist has recommended a particular option and if vision is not too impaired prior to surgery, we can use contact lenses to simulate the vision after surgery to help you feel confident in your decision. We are more than happy to take the time to discuss the various options with you.
We provide follow up care after surgery and can determine if you need any ongoing optical correction.
